Why handwriting practice books rarely work
The instinct when a child writes badly is to buy a practice book, and it almost never changes anything. The reason is that poor handwriting is a motor habit, not a knowledge gap — the child already knows what an 'a' looks like. If they hold the pencil in a way that restricts finger movement, or start letters at the wrong point, every completed page rehearses that fault a few hundred more times. Practice locks in whatever technique it is practising. Fixing the technique first is what makes practice worth doing.
What actually gets corrected
Four things, in order. Grip and posture first, because everything downstream depends on the hand being able to move freely. Then letter formation — where each letter starts, the direction of each stroke, which letters share a movement. Then spacing and sizing: consistent gaps between words, letters that sit on the line and keep a constant height. Finally speed, because handwriting that is only neat when a child is being careful is not yet fixed.
Print before cursive
If your child's print letters are still inconsistent, print is where to start regardless of what the school expects. Cursive built on unstable print produces a hand that looks joined but degrades badly under speed, and it is harder to correct later than to build properly the first time. Children who already write legible print and are being asked for joined writing should go straight to the cursive track instead.
Where the marks actually come back
Handwriting has no exam of its own, which is why it gets deprioritised — but it is marked in every subject that requires written answers. Examiners read hundreds of scripts under time pressure, and an answer that takes effort to decipher loses the benefit of the doubt. The gain from legible writing is not a presentation score; it is the marks your child already earned being credited to them.

How long does it take to improve handwriting?＋
The programme runs 20 days. Most parents notice a visible change in letter consistency inside the first two weeks — the later sessions are about holding that quality at writing speed, which is the part that decides whether the improvement survives an exam.
What age is this for?＋
Ages 7 to 16. Below seven, most children haven't developed the fine motor control for formal correction to hold. Classes 4 to 8 usually show the fastest change, and older students often progress quickly because they understand the reason behind each correction.
What do the classes cost?＋
The trial is free — a full 60-minute live session, no payment and no card details. Fees are shared afterwards, once Nupur has seen your child write and knows whether they need the full programme or something shorter.
My child's handwriting is neat at home but bad in exams. Why?＋
That gap is speed, not ability. Neat-when-slow means the letter shapes are known but not automatic, so quality collapses the moment your child writes at exam pace. The programme drills formation until it runs without conscious thought, which is what keeps writing legible under time pressure.
Do you fix pencil grip?＋
It is usually the first thing corrected. A grip that presses too hard or restricts the fingers makes every other correction harder to hold — and it is the single most common cause of a child saying their hand hurts after writing a page.
